Welcome to CERDI,
Center for Studies and Research on International Development

Introducing the Cerdi

The Cerdi, founded in 1976 as the first joint research unit between the CNRS and a French university, focuses on development economics. Becoming associated with IRD in 2018, it brings together economists and researchers specializing in the micro and macroeconomic aspects of development. Its research focuses on development financing, sustainable trajectories and the integration of developing countries into the global economy. Historically focused on sub-Saharan Africa, the Cerdi has broadened its field of study to include other regions such as China, Latin America and Eastern Europe. It also plays an important role in research training and collaborates with various national, regional and international institutions involved in development policies and their financing.
