Three-year PhD scholarships 2021-2024

The CERDI (Centre d'Etudes et de Recherches sur le Développement International) proposes two three-year scholarship for a PhD Thesis in economics. Interested candidates should submit a thesis proposal in a four-page document, which should describe the topic of the thesis and the related methodological approach.

The proposed project should belong to the field of development economics, and be coherent with the main research lines of CERDI.

We encourage proposals related to:

  • global governance, the 2030 Agenda and to climate change. The CERDI is one of the members of the Labex IDGM+. More information available at : https://idgm.org.
  • catastrophic natural hazards and socio-economic vulnerability. The CERDI contributes to the Challenge IV of the Project ISite Cap20-25.
  • the health crisis related to the COVID-19 pandemics in developing countries, and its short and long-term economic consequences. The CERDI is conducting, together with the CEVIPOF (SciencePo), field surveys in African and South American countries. Candidates must have completed (or be in the process of completing) a master in economics (or an equivalent degree).

The three-year scholarship will begin on September 1st, 2021. The selected candidates will be affiliated to the CERDI and to the Doctoral Program in Economics, Law and Management. Applications must be submitted to: edsejpg.drv@uca.fr no later than May 9, 2021.

The application must include:

  • Grade transcripts (undergraduate and graduate level).
  • Curriculum vitae
  • A letter of motivation
  • Two references (to be included in the CV)
  • A detailed research project of up to 4 pages; this project demonstrate the ability of the candidate to address the proposed research questions
  • (Optional): Second-year master thesis.

Interviews of short-listed candidates will be held on-line on May 27-28, 2021.
