Cheick Camara spent three months doing research at the European Commission.
We are delighted to welcome back Cheick Camara, who just spent three months in Seville for a scientific internship at the Joint Research Centre, the research body of the EU Commission. He joined the TEDAM Team, which conducts research on EU funding and public policies, topics he explores in our Department.
Cheick is currently a PhD candidate in Economics at the Université Clermont Auvergne. He works at the CERDI under the supervision of Bertrand Laporte and Emilie Caldeira (CERDI, UCA). Over the years, he has developed an expertise in public policy and public finances. He is putting the final touches to his doctoral dissertation, which analyzes local public policies in India through the prism of gender and federalism. He examined inclusive policies and women’s participation in public decision-making. He also studies the roles of women and federalism in promoting social peace among ethnic groups. His conclusions and recommendations will be useful to those interested in implementing policies to maintain stability between very diverse communities.
Cheick is a dynamic and enthusiastic researcher who is involved in several projects. He will soon start working as a consultant for the World Bank on governance, public financial management, and decentralization in three West African Countries: Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.
He has worked as a lecturer and junior researcher for several organisations and institutions. Over the years, he has developed a broad expertise in local public policies in very diverse contexts.
