This new edition of the Revue d'économie du développement opens with an article offering an overview of recent research in the field of conflict economics, dealing with the main consequences and causes of civil wars. The following contribution concerns the study of the potential role of the financial system structure in terms of macroeconomic volatility in 38 low-income countries (1978-2013 period). A third article focuses on the impact of FDI inflows on the penetration of non-life insurance in 76 developing countries during the period 1996-2011. An evaluation of the effect of agricultural education on cocoa production in two regions of Cameroon ends the issue.
