12h00 :Melchior Clerc (CERDI, UCA) will present his research project on female genital mutilation (FGM), or excision, a practice still widely prevalent in sub-Saharan Africa. This study explores whether parents of girls at risk of excision tend to relocate them—either by migrating with them or by entrusting them to another household—in order to protect them from this practice.
Melchior is pursuing a doctorate on the determinants and economic implications of household composition and its variation in developing countries under the supervision of Simone Bertoli (CERDI, UCA)
12h30 : Paul Vernus(CERDI, UCA) will discuss with the team his paper project on countries affected by natural disasters related to climate change. He is interested in issues of international aid governance and plans to study the impact of these disasters on the management of foreign aid by decision-makers.
Paul Vernus is working on a thesis on International Solidarity in Financing Climate Change Resilient Development in Africa. Vianney Dequiedt and Florian Léon (CERDI, Université Clermont Auvergne, FERDI) guide his research, which focuses on international relations notably between Africa and the European Union.
