Abstract
The first part presents the methodology behind the IMF’s World Revenue Longitudinal Database, a comprehensive public database that tracks government revenue trends since the early 1990s and covering 193 countries, with invaluable insights into the evolution of the level and composition of revenues and tax revenues. Updated annually, the database and accompanying technical note provide an overview of recent revenue developments, data revisions, and methodological improvements, making it an essential resource for understanding revenue mobilization developments at the country, regional, and global levels. The second part of the seminar present recent IMF work on domestic revenue mobilization, including estimates of tax potential.
