FERDI, CERDI, and the Oxford Review of Economic Policy are organizing an international conference on the scramble for critical minerals, from November 26 to 27, 2025. The event will be held at the Amphithéâtre Teilhard de Chardin, 63 boulevard François Mitterrand, Clermont-Ferrand.

The participants will discuss papers selected following the call for contributions for the special issue of the journal on “The Scramble for Critical Minerals.” This issue is co-edited by Rabah Arezki (CNRS, CERDI, and FERDI), Rick van der Ploeg (University of Oxford), and Christopher Adam (University of Oxford). Two sessions will also be organized focusing on public policy orientations, encouraging discussion between institutional actors, researchers, and the private sector.

Our Director, Simone Bertoli (UCA, CERDI) will open the conference with Patrick Guillaumont (FERDI), Rick van der Ploeg, and Christopher Adam.

Grégoire Rota-Graziosi (UCA, CERDI, FERDI) will give a talk on “Getting Tax Right on Critical Minerals” during the discussion on the economic policy for critical minerals (Wednesday 26, November, 2025, at 3.45 pm).
