The team is glad to meet up again with Christelle Tchoupé, our new Research Fellow.

After completing her master’s degree in development economics at School of Economics of the Université Clermont Auvergne, Christelle defended her Ph.D. in Economics in 2018. She analyzed the impact of drought on agriculture and adaptation strategies in her doctoral dissertation under the supervision of Catherine Araujo Bonjean (CNRS, CERDI).

A strong expertise and experience in public policy evaluation

Thanks to her background as an economist and statistical engineer, Christelle is working as a specialist in impact evaluation of public policies and development programs at the Laboratory for Survey & Research for Development (SRDLab).  She is involved in all stages of evaluation projects; from methodological design to field implementation, through impact analysis and interpretation of results. She has broadened her range of expertise and developed a special interest in food security, public health, education, social protection, and governance.

Her recent work focuses on public administration reforms in fragile states, particularly in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). It examines the impact of these reforms on corruption, as well as the relationship between the recruitment process and the civil servants’ performance. In her recent public health work, she has evaluated the prevalence and associated factors of tobacco and nicotine use and has also led evaluations of programs aimed at preventing and responding to gender-based violence.

An international expertise and professional background

Christelle Tchoupé has collaborated with institutions such as the World Bank (DIME); the UNESCO; USAID; Enabel, the Belgian agency for international cooperation; Development Gateway, and also with the NORC at the University of Chicago; Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie), as well as various NGO and consultancy companies.

Over the years, Christelle Tchoupé has held leadership roles as head of mission, operations coordinator, and principal investigator on diverse projects in DRC, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, and Cameroon.

Welcome back to the team!
