Sreyphea Chheang joins the ECOTERM research team at the CERDI

We are happy to welcome Sreyphea Chheang to our department. She is a postdoctoral researcher in economics who has just joined the ECOTERM team to work on an international, interdisciplinary research program studying ecosystem services in the lower Mekong Basin in Cambodia.

The team seeks to evaluate the impacts of termites and their mounds on the biodiversity, the environment, and the well-being of the population using collaborative research. Sreyphea is on her way to Cambodia where she will spend a few months. She will collaborate with the local partners and stakeholders on the project. She will contribute to the conception and preparation of a workshop that aims to co-build conservation and protection of the ecosystem with farmers and their families. She will also take part in the ongoing econometric analysis to evaluate the effects of termite mounds on agriculture, as well as on the health and the well-being of local communities.

Sreyphea Chheang holds a PhD in Economics from York University in Toronto. Her research is at the intersection of macroeconomics, economic history, and applied economics. She has authored several working papers where she examines various aspects of the development of Cambodia after the genocide. She has previously worked as a Research Assistant and a Teaching Assistant.

Sreyphea Chheang, welcome to the team! We are glad to have you on board!
