Antoine Buscaglia joined the WHITECYCLE team at CERDI
The CERDI is glad to welcome Antoine Buscaglia as a data engineer. He works with Arnaud Diemer and Henri Sourgou on the WHITECYCLE project [lien page]. Michelin leads the consortium of 16 partners that brings together industrial companies, institutions, and universities. With support from Horizon Europe, they aim at finding a circular solution to recycle and transform complex textiles contained in tires or garments and define a viable business model.
The industrial partners are currently developing an innovative solution to recycle plastics and invent new products. The Université Clermont Auvergne is a partner of the consortium. Antoine Buscaglia has joined our Department to promote the outcomes of this project and valorize its results in academic publications that will be based on a set of unique data. He conducts a systems thinking analysis of BlackCycle, a closed-loop system that enables tire recycling, and WhiteCycle, a recycling process for PET textiles, using the circular economy’s 10R framework to evaluate the circularity strategies implemented in both cases and to produce a study for publication.
Antoine Buscaglia obtained his Master's degree in development economics, specializing in sustainable development from the École d'Économie of the Université Clermont Auvergne. He previously worked with Arnaud Diemer during an internship. He was in charge of an impact analysis on a lithium mining project in Allier, France [lien page]. To achieve his degree, he worked at IEDOM, the Institut d’émission des départements d’Outre-mer (IEDOM), a branch of the Banque de France, which maintains and supports the economic stability of France’s overseas departments. Before joining our team, he was working at the Regional Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESER) of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes. He was in charge of conducting analyses, contributing to various publications, and also leading some of the Council discussions. He has sound expertise in economics, industrial, and environmental issues at the local level.
