Abstract

Trade and financial systems are characterized by increasingly complex patterns of interactions between agents, institutions, and markets. Network science provides a natural framework to represent these interactions and to study how the structure of an economic system influences its underlying dynamics. In this seminar, I will present my recent contributions covering global trade, decentralized finance, and local currencies, as illustrations of how network-based approaches can be used to investigate economic and monetary systems.
