CERDI was pleased to welcome participants to the final conference of the TEFISCON research program on September 9–10, 2026. This is a French-German project led by Jean-François Brun (CERDI, UCA) and Christian von Haldenwang (IDOS)

They brought together their teams, partner representatives, and members of the advisory committee in Clermont-Ferrand for two days of discussions. reviewing three years of work on a key issue in development policy: how to design a fair and effective tax policy.

For this project, a team of economists and political scientists conducted surveys and field experiments in four countries in the Global South to explore taxpayers' views on tax exemptions and to develop recommendations for fairer taxation. The conference participants discussed the program's findings with other international experts working on tax expenditures. They also explored new ideas and future project collaborations.

The TEFISCON project was supported by the ANR (French National Research Agency) and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG – German Research Foundation).
