The Department of Public Policy of the CEU hosted Pierre Beaucoral for a few months
Pierre Beaucoral just came back from a stay at the Department of Public Policy at the Central European University in Vienna. He was warmly welcomed by the team of the DPP and the Doctoral School. He had the opportunity to discuss his work on climate aid, economic activity, and CO2 emissions with both teams.
This was a very productive visit, considering that he started a new collaboration with Florian Weiler on aid for climate change adaptation in Africa. Together, they are exploring issues at the intersection of economics and political science. More precisely, they are examining the distribution strategies of financing, how donors organize it, and the diplomatic aspects of these aid policies.
This topic is at the heart of the research Pierre conducts in our department. He is a PhD candidate in Economics at the Université Clermont Auvergne. He works in our team under the supervision of Michael Goujon and Sébastien Marchand. In his PhD dissertation, he assesses the efficiency of adaptation financing using methods for processing and analyzing large volumes of data. He combines causal inference, machine learning, and AI. He notably evaluates how well they serve the communities and improve their livelihoods.
It was a great stay in one of the most beautiful cities!
