Alistair is an applied microeconomist currently working on inequality, gender as well as understanding risk preferences. 

After pursuing undergraduate studies in development studies, Alistair obtained his PhD in economics in 2024, on inequality and identity. He previously worked as an economist at the Reserve Bank of Australia and in microfinance in Viet Nam.

His publication in the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization explores Shari’ah-compliant microfinance contracts based on profit and loss sharing.

At the CERDI, Alistair will be involved in a project led by Florent Bresson, to study how inequality affects and is affected by climate change and climate shocks.
