Rabah Arezki offers a new take on the aid industry in the latest issue of Nature

Rabah Arezki is calling for a shift in the mainstream development approach, a paradigm that has focused on poverty reduction for the past 80 years. Meanwhile, extreme poverty has fallen from 50% to 10% today. The world has changed: international aid has plummeted whilst the number of active conflicts is rapidly increasing. 

Rabah Arezki proposes a model that prioritizes international efforts in conflict prevention through long-term investment, using AI and satellite observations to anticipate risks. He underlines that the disengagement of Western countries offers other players the opportunity to step up and fill the gap.
